Digitization training in Nigeria

I have a Google alert that delivers digitization related stories to me every day. Today one of the stories is from Nigeria, where " the management of National Library of Nigeria (LBN) has resuscitated and embarked on intensive staff training programmes which have been moribund in the past years." Their first training program held in June was on "Greenstone Software for Digitization." It was attended by twelve staff members.

Nigeria is a country that has been rocked with violence over the years and is transitioning from military rule to a civilian government. Rebuilding a country takes efforts in many areas. It is interesting to me to see the LBN rebuilt itself through staff training and a move to use more computer-based technologies. Let's hope that this is the start of great successes for them.
